Hi there,
I'm trying to remove my Rockshox Reba forks from my Rockhopper, I've taken off the stem and top cap and normally when I've taken these off it the past on other bikes the forks have just dropped out. This one is stuck, I don't know if I'm suppose to remove the silver ring on the top of the headset, I tried tapping it in the split with a screwdriver and hammer but it didn't budge. Any ideas?
Pics below.
Cheers!

wheel off ground. soft faced mallet hit the steerer. then pick the centering collar out.

Whack the top of the steerer with a rubber mallet/drift and hammer while the forks are off the ground. Its a compression wedge, just needs freeing up and it will slide off. Don't be shy to give the forks a good whack, though you should watch out as they can suddenly release and drop, so dont do it too high off the ground!
