Bought my first full suspension

Well after about 5 years of riding a hardtail I have finally taken the plunge and bought a full susser. Bit of a midlife crisis as i'm 40 in a few months and I thought "Well if I don't do it now..."
I've spent all day setting up the sag and applying bike tape etc.. I'll not be able to get out properly till next week as i'm at work al weekend. Love it but not totally convinced about the Avid elixirs. My older XT M775s had far more bite but I will give them a decent try out next week. I also need to swap the 100m stem for a 60mm jobby. Bike fits perfectly other than that but feels weird compared to a hardtail.

good choice sirIt never gets easier. You just go faster. – Greg LeMond
The bicycle is just as good company as most husbands and, when it gets old and shabby, a woman can dispose of it and get a new one without shocking the entire community. - Ann Strong0 -
very nice fella, i have just got myself a Giant XTC advanced 3 ( full carbon frame ) from Pauls Cycles
it was a toss up between this and an anthem x

Thanks chaps. I can't believe how light it is. It's a full 2kg lighter than my Trek hardtail. I can't wait to have a blast round my usual route round the local woods to see how it compares0

If you had Shimano's I suspect you'll never like the Avid's....latest XX feel no different in use to my rather aged Juicy 5's (which I'm in the process of swapping to XT/XTR).Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

Lovely bike, but I agree with this - Avids all feel relatively same-y. My juicy carbons felt the same as my 3's, My elixirs were the same.
Just got a new bike (Cube 29'er) with Deore brakes and they feel much better already than any previous avids I've had (granted, thats a ride up and down the road so far), but I think I'm converted0 -
great bike, dont worry about the gear on it the frame is well worth making upgrades, i had a white one but it developed a small crack, had a new frame to me within a week from giant but it was a silver one which is fine but i do like the white one betteranthem x with many upgrades0

I will give the Avids the benefit of the doubt until they are bedded in properly. Don't think the missus would be best pleased if I told her I was changing the brakes already. I've already had to explain to her why it came without pedals!!!!0
