Do you live in an inner city area/high rise flat?

If so where do you clean your bike? I'm just about to move to a flat with basically no communal outside areas and obviously I can't do it inside.

Do petrol stations have pressure washers suitable for bikes?

Thanks muchly

I can go in the car park where I live now. I used to go to a Texaco car wash sometimes, it was great. Just be careful not to aim the jet directly at the hubs, BB etc.

personally i would just clean it in the bath lol
  • clean my road bike just outside the door of the flat - just use a damp j cloth & the washing up bowl. have placed an old sheet down before & cleaned in the hall way & was no big deal.

My fried owns a bike shop and pretty much cleans the bike fame every day when the bikes stored inside the shop the same way.

Only thing you need to think about is running gear - but using the bath is the simplest way to take care of that too.

Plus I use a frame polish which takes no time at all to apply & makes cleaning the bike much easier indeed.
Pain hurts much less if its topped off with beating your mates to top of a climb.

I don't, but I do have a friend that swears by Baby Wipes for cleaning his bike. Just don't flush them.

Monster Wipes from B&Q are brilliant for this - cheaper than Baby Wipes I think. Impregnated with a soapy liquid, they can clean anything off, including the gunk off the chain.

In general yes, but not near my new flat.

I use those wipes for DIY related stuff. I'd say they'd be a little to harsh too use on my bike.

I just do it in the bathroom, its more like a wet room with drainage on the floor, I just have to make sure I clean up after myself to avoid a bashing from the wife

You want to watch using soapy wipes, things like that and washing up liquid often contain salt. Muc-off is cheap and works better (also good on car wheels).

You could use a garden pump spray to wash the bike off.

I used to live in a flat in Manchester and it was a real pain cleaning the bike. I had a balcony where I could do it, but all the water dripped down on the other balconies below :s Always felt a bit bad about that. Just moved into a house with a proper garden and its much more convenient!

I live in shared house and i do mine in the room.
Although I should of put something underneath it last time, never mind its terrible carpet.
  • Bought one of these when I had no bike cleaning facilities: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=46653

Unfortunately the battery no longer holds charge but it worked for a while.

a bucket of hot soapy water, a sponge and some old rags and the tool and grease/cleaner you need in a bag...go to the nearest public place or the car park?
