sidi stitching & toe rub

Does anyone else have a problem with the stitching / panel boundaries inside sidi shoes rubbing the tops of their middle toes, especially the second toe? I've had this with two pairs in succession, it's a minor problem but I sometimes need to wear a small plaster on the toe to protect it. The shoes are a tight but comfortable fit (the last pair were larger but I had the same problem). The problem is where the tongue of the shoe is attached to the part of the toe-box lorica panel that comes up the top of the shoe in the middle. It's not helped by the fact that the front of the shoe is low volume and I've got special insoles and a forefoot wedge thing.

I wondered about sticking something over this area inside the shoe, but am reluctant to do anything that will further reduce the volume at the front.
