he rode it through a stream. maybe not in that video but in the one bike radar posted of him. Didn't seem like it melted. although he was on a different bike in this video.

That rider has some skill.

I'm assuming nothing about the durability of carbon from an edited video though.

Cant see anything wrong with carbon wheels or frames/forks. All the pro's use them, and a sprinter like Cavendish or Boonen can produce upwards of 1400 watts. Some of them have special frames built but usually not to hide any durability issues, usually to get a specific size or height. Cant see a pro doing 100 kph down a col on anything they don't trust.

Fair point. Although Grand Tour descents are inspected, swept and repaired (or even resurfaced) beforehand. Nothing like the potholed gravel tracks we get on UK sportives for instance. And there are team cars full of spare wheels on hand.

Nothing against carbon wheels for racing BTW, I just question their suitability for day to day use.
  • Terrible example to youngsters #didn't_rake_the_bunker
  • Humbling, I worry about a speed bump. I think I'll stick to pedalling on the road and just admire.
