From what i understand you will need new shifters, front and rear Deraileur, and the wiring loom and battery. Then your good to go.

Yep the cranks/chainrings are the 6700 versions, not Di2 specific.

Some places do an upgrade kit, I think it is around £700 but not totally sure as I was looking back in the summer. Check which battery mount you are getting (long cage or short cage) and if its internal or external wiring in the kit. The internal was short in supply over the summer as the manufacturers no doubt bought it all up but the external was pretty easy to come by.
  • I may have brand new DI2 for sale soon, Im getting a bike and changing out for mechanical ultegra straight away.

Rather strange, having used it on 2 bikes over the last 18 months I would never choose the standard cable sytem over it. The shifting is superb and its a dream to fit and setup
  • Ridden di2 before nothing wrong with it just personal preference

  • i have it and its very good not looking forward to using the winter bike with std mech's although they also work just fine
just prefer the di2's and the hoods are far nicer and comfier :)

Weird, I'd have it on my winter bike but not my summer bike....

Wil the new frame take the battery pack? I saw a comment recently (in B+ I seem to remember) that one of the bikes on test couldn't be upgraded to Di because there was nowhere low down on the frame to mount the battery?

There is no way I could afford di2. But based on the reviews, it sounds awesome.

How long do you think it will be before traditional gears are snubbed alltogether?

I think it will always be there on low end bikes but as its already avaialble on a sub £2k machine it will be fairly standard rather than exclusive within 2 years. A good indication is when Halfords sell it!!

There is an attachement for bikes without a mounting point that allows the battery holder to be positioned below the bottle cage, the mount attaches to the frame via the two bolts that hold the bottle cage.

It can be installed under the Bottom Bracket or behind the seat if required, everyone just assumes it has to go below the bottles
