As winter is on its way. it will be my first on the bike. I am not sure what to wear..
What do i know is that i want to keep warm and dry, my budget is really tight to be truthful around £100 - so not too much

Not much you need really, I wear (down to -6 coldest last winter)
Knee warmers
'water resistant' baggies with liner (same all year round)
Base layer T shirt, or long sleeve when its colder
Thin fleece (if it's really quite cold)
Cycling top (actually I use a motorcross top which is airy and light but almost indestructable)
Water/wind proof from D2B if it's howling gales or wet.
Socks just decent thick ones, if your feet get wet they just warm up again (like a wet suite) anyway.
Mix and match for conditions!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
What have got already?
What needs covering up?
I'd suggest one of thesefor £15 if you need a jacket?
I wear lined baggy shorts pretty much all year, but if it is really cold I'd double sock with some Merino Socks (On One, £6) inside some Sealskinz (shop around, £20ish).0 -
what base layer would people suggest ?0

As for keeping warm, keep your neck head wrists ankles and kidneys warm and you are in with a chance. Lots of blood flowing through these areas close to the surface of the skin.
Otherwise nothing too special just layer up and keep it versatile.0 -

I ride snowboards all winter and have found the best ones to be the cheap Muji ones (don't know if they still sell them) my mum bought be a few years back, def better than my Helly Hansen, Nike etc - which cost about 3 or 4x the price.
But about to hit the button on a couple of Endura BaaBaa Merino jobbies for this winter - see if they're any better or worse. Although very far from cheap, but good layering is the key to a cosy winter over here"Why have that extra tooth if you're not using it?" - Brian Lopes
