What happens if he gets blown off course? Does he end up in the Falklands or somewhere?

Yes - glued to the screen. The guy who set the record back in the 70's was a nutter. Aparently had a hole in his glove but didn't tell anyone about it incase they made him abort. Nobody really knew whether he would go up or down when he left the balloon! Totally silent at the beginning of the jump, on account of no atmosphere, with wind noise starting somewhere below. Totally insane

Sun just starting to rise on the live feed. Weather conditions good. No danger of invading the Falklands....

Been following this for a while. Its pretty cool but "the edge of space" is abit cheeky the Karman line is at 62miles, he's going to 23miles.

Still though, the guy must have balls of Titanium (strong but importantly light) for this. Much respect.

@FoldingJoe, where'd you see that ascent time?

The cam has been moving around for most of the afternoon. Adds to the intrigue :)

The views from the balloon are likely to be fantastic, judging by how clear the sky looks.

High winds in New Mexico, apparently.

But I wouldn't blame him if the real reason was that he looked down and thought, "WTF am I thinking?!"
