What happens if he gets blown off course? Does he end up in the Falklands or somewhere?FCN 2-4.
"What happens when the hammer goes down, kids?"
"It stays down, Daddy."
"Exactly."0 -
Yes - glued to the screen. The guy who set the record back in the 70's was a nutter. Aparently had a hole in his glove but didn't tell anyone about it incase they made him abort. Nobody really knew whether he would go up or down when he left the balloon! Totally silent at the beginning of the jump, on account of no atmosphere, with wind noise starting somewhere below. Totally insane0

Sun just starting to rise on the live feed. Weather conditions good. No danger of invading the Falklands....0

No sign of the envelope being deployed yet. Its going to be a long afternoon. Better than work though...0

Been following this for a while. Its pretty cool but "the edge of space" is abit cheeky the Karman line is at 62miles, he's going to 23miles.
Still though, the guy must have balls of Titanium (strong but importantly light) for this. Much respect.
@FoldingJoe, where'd you see that ascent time?"I have a plan, a plan so cunning you could stick a tail on it and call it a fox." (from the Blackadder TV series)0 -
Earliest launch time 1730 GMT0

Mission resumes: balloon is being laid out.
Looking forward to this immensely...0 -
why has the web came been pointed more "up" so you cant see the ground?Keeping it classy since '830
-
The cam has been moving around for most of the afternoon. Adds to the intrigue
The views from the balloon are likely to be fantastic, judging by how clear the sky looks.0 -
estimated ascent time? leave home now or watch from work?!0
-
You can tell its home time, viewers just went from 170,000 to 60,000!0
-
Has he jumped yet?
No
The five minute (i assume take off) countdown has started - let the ascent begin."If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got."

High winds in New Mexico, apparently.
But I wouldn't blame him if the real reason was that he looked down and thought, "WTF am I thinking?!"FCN 2-4.
