Got some Endura Luminite overshoes. There rubbish! Feet totally wet within half hour?
I know overshoes will not totally keep your feet dry but what's the best?
Also any tips to keep feet 'dryer' when overshoes are on?

I use neoprene ones, they're very good. Mine are Campagnolo but loads of people make them

I'm a big fan of toe covers (not dry but keep the wind out so are very warm) but in really bad weather I've found Pro H2O (neoprene) are warm and last better than most.

+1 for neoprene ones. Mine are actually Endura and they have kept my feet warm and dry for years.

I have the BBB Hardwear ones and they are really great for the money...albeit too good. They are just too warm for those occassions (like this time of the year) when you just want to keep the elements out.

    +1 Endura neoprene

having said that, I've moved to winter boots now so rarely use the overshoes

+1 for BBB hardwear. very toastie and for 20 quid they were a good buy for my first try of overshoes
they haven't been rained on yet, but they are very effective in the cold.

    Planet X overshoes. http://www.planet-x-bikes.co.uk/i/q/CLP ... _overshoes

    Ten pounds AND perform brilliantly.

Mudguards and flaps really help though. No overshoe is 100% waterproof as water runs down your leg....
  • I've recently got some Outeredge waterproof overshoes, i've had neoprene ones in the past which proved to be rubbish at being waterproof, these ones though are excellent at keeping my feet dry even in the harshest of wet weather. I'm not sure how warm they'll prove to be on cold mornings though.

These are good, but massive. I also have some Pro Tarmac H2O for when it's not that cold.

It seems that Pro overshoes have been discontinued and replaced by exactly the same overshoes but called Shimano instead of Pro (I think Shimano and Pro are one and the same anyway so it's just a re-branding exercise).

My shges are size 13 so it's difficult to find any overshoes that actually fit me.

I meant massive as in very bulky.

  • I found the Endura overshoes crap also for rain they are only good for light rain or spray from wet roads, they are excellent at keeping your feet warm though
  • if it is for cold and light rain, i do 'undershoes', wearing the sealskinz mid weight socks with old shoes that i don't mind getting wet. been great even in sub zero weather.

i am considering getting a pair and cutting out cleat holes to use as overshoes.

i also found the endura overshoes (relatively) good. they do eventually go in full out deluges and cycling through puddles, but i don't think any overshoe would work after a certain point.

i tried those expensive latex mavic, and they were useless.

+1 for the Pro overshoes, they're very good and well priced. Several different versions, so have a look on Wiggle and take your pick.

Endura neoprene, i can't fault them. They seem to last a few years before they rot because of the road salt but they keep your feet warm and dry.

Well just like last winter i had the Pro tarmac NPU + . Went out this morning in a light 20min shower came back and my toe's were soaked. (i dunno maybe scottish rain is tougher :) ) So i am now like the poster in the market for new one's too. But as someone said already i dont think that you can get a totally waterproof overshoe, but i expect better in a 20min shower and no rain for the rest of the run.
