Formula Bleed problem

I have a very spongy rear RX brake and after 3 bleeds I can't seem to fix it.

I fitted these a month ago new, the front is super firm and the rear was too until a week ago, not sure what you call the part that connects the hose to the caliper (the bit that rotates) but I loosened this a touch while I adjusted the cable routing, not sure if this caused my problem or just a coincidence.

When i close off the lever and de-gas air just keeps coming and coming, so much so that I had to take off the syringe to get rid off the air and start again.

The lever now makes a squishing noise when I pull, at first I thought this was faulty and letting air in but now I'm not sure, it's probably just more air in inside making the noise.

This is the steps I took for the bleed.

  • the bleed kit is an avid/formula cheapo kit i bought off ebay, used it a few times on my old juicy 3's without a problem.

It's not easy to tighten though as there's nothing at the end to grip in, I did manage to get it tight on the last go but i can't be sure, if I had to guess I'd say this is my problem.

The o rings are still in the caliper & lever, I didn't remove these.

    they may be damaged.

I would also download and read the Formula bleed guide as it has a few different steps to the PB one.

  • Sorted, it was the poor seal when attaching the syringe, the O rings do look a little squashed as well but I'll leave them till next time.
