Rotor crankset + Campagnolo groupset
Hi,
is it possible to replace my original Veloce crankset (I ride a full Veloce 2012 groupset) with any other (I'm thinking about Rotor 3D+ AERO or Rotor Agilis)? My biggest concern here is a Q Factor. This is because "The components of Campagnolo EPS transmissions have been designed as a single integrated system and provide the optimum levels of safety, performance, durability and functioning only where interfaced with other Campagnolo EPS components".
Does the same apply to the mechanical Campagnolo groupsets? Can I change my Veloce crankset without any worries or should I pay a very close attention to the Q Factor of a new crankset? I don't think this is the case because it's very common to see Campagnolo equipped bikes wit some other (e.g. FSA) cranksets.
I'm a great Campagnolo fan but the Power Torque designs drives me crazy. This is the most ridiculous design I've ever seen. It does work really fine and I've never experienced any problems with my PT crankset but every time I have to uninstall and install it again I wail like a soul tormented in hell! This is an ordeal. So I decided to replace PT with something else.
To sum up, is the Q Factor a crucial factor that I should take into consideration no matter what or can I forget it, buy Rotor 3D+, Agilis or some FSA model, install and start riding?

Powertorque is certainly a test of mechanical patience and not one I'm fond of. FWIW all bike transmissions work to a standard chainline measurement, so provided there's nothing unusual about your frame / BB arrangement there is no reason why you should experience problems with any brand of chainset and transmission despite what the manufacturers try to tell you. FWIW Powertorque Q-factor is pretty narrow.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Thanks Monty Dog. That's exactly what I thought but was too afraid to admit even to myself. I ride full carbon Pinarello FP2 so I don't supose there will be any problems with a new crankset. Thanks again!0

I can confirm that I use rotor 3D cranks and q rings and rotor agilis cranks and q rings with campag 9 and 10 speed (record). You need to use a shimano compatible bottom bracket and you will need to raise your front mech (and therefore lengthen the cable) if you intyend to use Qrings but other than that it will be fine. Do not worry about "Q factor". I have a spare new boxed rotor agilis 130 bcd chain set if you are interested, and a used BB1 rotor bottom bracket !!!!Colnago Addict!0

Thank you mrdsgs. Could you please tell me if there are any (ANY) difficulties in installing Agilis crankset? Or is it as simple and user-friendly as Shimano?
In other words: how do you install and especially uninstall the arm without the axle? (in Rotor case this is the drive side arm). Good God please, let it be clean, simple, quick, painless, tool-free (except for an allen wrench) and easy... Please have mercy on me, Campagnolo's PT has given me so much anguish!0
