Ghetto chain guide - ideas wanted

Most of you will no doubt have seem Bionicon's chain guide:

I could really use something like that on the Cannondale but I can think of better things to spend £40 on. Have already seen some home-brewed devices using bits of hose pipe and cable ties but they are probably a bit too ghetto

Any ideas are welcome cheers

They're £14 on bike-discount, looks like the original version but probably still better than ghettoing it. Or is there anything wrong with a Blackspire Stinger?

I tried making one of the MBR hosepipe and reflector ones, but wasnt happy about the friction or noise that it added. Also, as the chain is wavy in shape, it seemed to vibrate up and down on the guide which made the chain unstable and more likely to come off imo. I havent tried the bionicon version, but in terms of shape I cant see how it is much different.
