Tyre Blowout ...

Thankfully not on the ride as it was 4c outside. My bike was propped up against my desk in the work, and there was a sudden - loud - wooosh of air. Wondered what the hell it was until I realised it was my front wheel letting go of all of it's air. Job for lunchtime....
Anyone else had this happen?
23mm Gatorskins, with 23mm Continental Race inner tubes. No visible debris embedded in the tyre, or obvious cuts. I checked the tyre pressures last night and they were at 95psi front and 105 psi rear. I'm presuming these pressures are about right for my weight, and aren't too high/low ? <I've done about 600 miles since the gatorskins and that inner tube was fitted without any issues>

actually had a thought ... when I checked / inflated the tyres last night it was about 5c outside. It was cold in the office when I arrived, but now the heating is on the temperature is a little over 20c - although the bike is nowhere near a heat source. Could this temperature difference have resulted in the tyre blowing out ?0

I had the same thing with some old tyres when I started riding in on a second hand bike. So I went out and got new tubes and, funnily enough, Gatorskins during my lunch hour.
Then a couple of days later I came back to the office to find that my co worked had moved my bike and lent it against the radiator - it was on and the tyre was touching it. I think I shouted "YIKES!" whilst carefully moving it away as if it were a bomb. I've experienced tyres blowing due to being next to a radiator before, the last time the thing just exploded. It was louder than a gunshot. I put 120psi in my tyres and as they are 32mm I must have a bit more air than you to expand though...0 -
But just to be clear, the last blowout wasn't with a Gatorskin - I've still not had a P****** with the 'Skins.0

I aware that it's not a good idea to put bikes anywhere near radiators and the like, after a tyre exploding when I was a youngster. My desk is in the middle of an open-plan office so no heat sources anywhere near, although the sun was shining through the window at the time - but I wouldn't have expected this to have caused it.0

Just investigated the source and it was definitely a blow-out with a corresponding hole in the side-wall of a 500 mile old Gatorskin :-( Whether the tyre caused the hole in the tyre or the other way round I'm not sure, gonna have to try to patch it up so I can ride the 20 miles home.0

I had one out of stupidity, it was from a car bike rack and the front tyre got melted and blew out from exhaust heat, luckily it was not gatorskin at the front, It could b the heat cange but surely it would need to be a drastic change rather than gradual? It could b anything really, check for any slices in tyres something could of embedded in to the nick from the floor and then popped out from pressure being released0

puncture repair patch glued to the inside of the tyre allowed me to at least get the 20 miles home tonight. New Gatorskin ordered, lets hope this one lasts a bit longer.0

I had a good blowout, also in a Gator after pinching the tube when putting it in. Massive bang, sounded like a gun. Wrecked the tube and tyre.I used to just ride my bike to work but now I find myself going out looking for bigger and bigger hills.0
