Help with rear shocker to giant trance

Hi, I'm new mountain biking and recently bought a Giant Trance x4 2011, I've noticed that the rear shocker has a indentation on the shaft, it does appear to be leaking oil or anything. Will it need changing? If so what type? And size ext. it seems to work ok,but I don't really know how to set it up proper. Just need some help

if it works fine dont worry.
if you are going to replace it it will need to be the same i2i and stroke."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

What is it? Does it leak? You seem unclear. If it's air it wouldn't leak oil. To set up check the manual on the manufacturers website.I don't do smileys.

The Rear Shocker is Giants own Brand Maestro, I have small pressure pump that came with the bike. There is a standard car valve that you can pump the shocker up. must admit tho, it flew through Sherwood Pines compared to my hard tail.0

Is the shock holding air pressure?0

Took your advice and just keep on blasting, when it gives up I'm sure I will know about it! Cheers0
