Do you mean that's what will happen if the Velominati catch you with them on?

    Poppycock.

At night your cycle MUST have white front and red rear lights lit. It MUST also be fitted with a red rear reflector (and amber pedal reflectors, if manufactured after 1/10/85). White front reflectors and spoke reflectors will also help you to be seen. Flashing lights are permitted but it is recommended that cyclists who are riding in areas without street lighting use a steady front lamp.
    Law RVLR regs 13, 18 & 24

The highway code is not in itself law. However the bold parts are, from the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations.

Yes. You were talking about wheel reflectors, which are not obligatory (just recommended). A red rear reflector is obligatory however.

As a purely secondary piece of information...

The Highway Code is actually the Approved Code of Practice to the Road Traffic Act (so does have Quasi Legal Status).

i.e. It can be used in court to prove that you have done sufficient to comply with the law. This works both ways so it can be used against you if they wish to demonstrate that you have not done enough to comply.

So even the non bold text does have weight/merit/legal standing.

    You have been warned :-)

So how many of us have reflectors fitted?

maybe that is a question / discussion for another thread?

on my bike I have tweaked the saddle position a little more, also think I need to do more core work as reading around it seems the neck and shoulder pain could be allieviated by a stronger core.

    update on my triban 3

bottom bracket was clicking, so I booked in for 6 month check since buying.

BB shot and needed replacing, apparently the factory fitted one has a plastic cup and fails pretty regularly according to the cycle mech. All swapped out for a new shimano BB, new cranks, chainset and a service! lovely!

Frazered, did you have to pay for the BB replacement or was that covered under warranty?

Rear wheel had a bit of play and bearings felt a bit gritty. Took it in and new hub and rear wheel needed due to issues of rear hubs not being greased enough at the factory.

New wheel and cassette provided under warranty.

On the negative side not been able to ride for a couple of weeks due to work being frantic. Squeezed in a 16 mile blast and back neck were proper aching !
