Advice for newbie fools like me!

I bought some "Dr Sludge self sealing inner tubes" a few weeks ago after getting a few thorn based punctures.
Fitted them and have not had another puncture since.
HOWEVER,
HERE'S FOR FOOLS LIKE ME!
I treated myself to some new tires today and found that I could not deflate the the sludge tubes!
(it makes sense when you think about it)
I got a tiny bit of air out of the valve, then the sludge started to do it's thing and plugged the hole!
Had to resort to sticking a knife through the tire and tube. (surely I should/could have tried something smarter)
ANYWAY,
Tires now on ..... just noticed the front is the wrong way round
Hope this helps.
