"Free" Youth Hostel membership when you buy a railcard

Hi - dunno if this has been posted but bought a railcard last week with the Pizza Express discount code - unfortunately now expired.
However got an email letting me know that I was entitled to a free year long membership to the YHA - had to phone a no and quote a code and my RC no and I was signed up.
Always put off joining as I wasn't to sure of when it would be used. Have no excuse for a decent tour now.
The RC gets you 1/3rd off most journeys after 10 am and all at weekend I think.
