The season ain't quite dead yet.
First time ever, there is live coverage of the race from Rai Sport 2.
Starts about 1-30pm UK time, scheduled for a full, 3 hour slot. (fingers crossed with Rai)

Nice presentation video, here:

5 times up this to finish:

Simon Gerrans won a Giro stage on this finish, a couple of years back.

Well there's some unexpected good news.

Startlists are starting to look a little thin. Nordhaug, Betancur, Nibali, Duarte + others are still riding though.
  • Uran and Henao were supposed to be riding, but have scratched.
Other than that, we have Pozzovivo, Quintana, Visconti, Cunego, Ulissi and Pellizotti.
Still, these parcour maketh the race.

I'll watch it on tv, but will post a live feed, if and when one becomes available.

  • Looks like bad news on the feed front.
    No unrestricted links, so far.
    Back to tv for me.

I'll keep on searching for one.
  • All feeds remained geo-restricted, I'm afraid.

Well, it was a great race.
The climb took a toll on each lap, with a succession of quality riders going off the front.

In the end it was all about the tiny climbers.

Pozzovivo tried to shake off his companions, but it was Nairo Quintana who was decisive.
    Top 5.
    Quintana
    Kessiakoff
    Pellizotti
    Pozzovivo

Quintana is a serious talent, but just as importantly he knows how to win.

Wish I could have seen it. Oh well. Quintana continues to progress. He's won the Route du Sud and now the Giro dell'Emilia, plus a stage in the Dauphine. So a good year for him.

Time gaps are reasonably large. Aru was racing but finished 20th - a whole 4mins back.

7th win for Quintana this season - will have to check that. Another Colombian performance.

Kess continues to surprise me - one to look out for, although he has been around a few years........

Nibs last race for Liquigas - came no where.

Nibs last race for Liquigas - came no where.

Aru made a solo attack on the 2nd lap climb.
By the penultimate lap, he was suffering.
Visconti did a huge amount of work for Quintana.
Only about 20 men left after lap 2, culled to half that, by him on lap 3.
Dropped, got back on, killed a couple on the bottom of the final lap ascent
    and still finished about 6th.

Kessiakoff yo-yoed off both the front and back for the last 2 laps, yet still out kicked
    Mr Tricolore.

Emilia parcour is perfect for attacking racing.
However, it is struggling, due to the Lombardy calendar shift.
This race has an incredible history, it would be a real shame if it sunk
    due to the UCI's torpedo.
TV might just save it, if sponsors get guaranteed air time, so it was great that we actually got
2 and a half hours of live coverage.
However Rai's international blackout seems to be a bullet in the foot, imo.

Tks for summary. Glad Aru has an attacking mentality even in his early stages. Sounds like top work from Visconti.
