I'm looking at these two;

http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-neoprene-ny ... shoe-2012/

The toe covers look more practical and slightly more comfortable maybe, but the full overs may offer better waterproofing... I have heard however that overshoes don't offer full waterproofing and only really offer warmth.

Opinions?

    For different conditions..

    At the moment a toe cover can be perfect to cover the vents at the front and give you that little bit of extra warmth needed.

    whereas in the winter proper you'll need full coverage to give more insulation and protection from the wind.

    As for waterproofing.. obviously there are holes in the overshoe for the cleat and heel. Providing your shoes don't have weird vents in the soles overshoes will do a decent job of keeping you dry.. but if you dunk your foot in a pond they're not going to keep the water out.

    I carry Endura lightweight overshoes for my road shoes and they're great, but only above 5-7C. Below that or offroad I use neoprene Planet-X shoes. Lovely and warm even well below freezing and they've never let in water or sleet.
