Ellsworth Moment vs Trek Remedy carbon

I'm currently have an older Ellsworth Moment which I don't have any issues with riding. It's a fantastic bike. But I've seen many images of cracked rockers and I'm doing more and more enduro / DH riding. I don't want to write-off what is a very descent frame by abusing it all the time. However, the Ellsworth is also fulfilling light weight duties. I'm basically considering if it's worth changing the frame over to a carbon Remedy to be both lighter and stronger. I'm not a carbon denyer so I'm sure it won't fail under normal riding, but do you think it's designed for more abuse than the Moment? And any idea how much weight might be saved? I can't find weights for either.
It will of course be another second hand purchase so after selling the Moment, it won't be an expensive change.

you'd probably drop between 1-2lbs in weight from the frame, seen a fair few cracks on chainstays on treks, and I wasn't that impressed with the one I rode a few years back, good bike, but for the price I expected more. How much is your budget, you could plenty of light and tough frames for not alot of money, especially as the RRP of a remedy carbon frame is 3 grand!! :shock:0

I don't like the Remedy for harder riding, it just feels like a longer travel trail bike rather than an all mountain bike.
I would go for either an Enduro or a Transition Covert.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
My budget is second hand Did they do a carbon version of the '08 / '09 enduro? Something like a covert would be too expensive and hasn't the carbon version only recently been released? Way out of price range. If a carbon frame looses a pound over my alu Moment and strength is increased then it's something I'm definately interested in doing.0

look out for carbon Nomads and Mojo HD's, a second hand remedy carbon is gonna be circa £1500 or so, could get a used nomad or HD for that, would be my choice. As has been said remedy is long travel trail bike, not as capable as others0

There are used Coverts around and they aren't heavy.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350

In its current build, the moment is 29lbs. Think a carbon nomad would be lighter than the moment?0

I would expect a carbon nomad with similar kit to your moment to be around 27-28lbs, so a bit lighter, my HD140 is 26'5 with reverb and pedals, so a 27lb nomad should be pretty easy if you stick with 32mm forks0 -
I'll start perousiling the NomadC then. Cheers0
