Do I have to add any extra links to the chain so the derailleur sits right?

well the chain needs to be the correct length.

you may or may not need to change its length.

sizeing is just the same a normal but with the device fitted.

so then I guess the question is - is the C Guide going to make the bike need a longer chain for it to be correctly sized!

I guess time will tell when it arrives.

and that all depends on what you have now and what you will have then and what guide.

    so yes.no.maybe.

    without details it is guesswork.

It's a Specalized Hardrock hardtail so its not like the chain has to adjust for movement in the travel. I'm not sure on the groupset.

and the guide is Bionicon C Guide 2.0

Yes but is the chain sized right now? Are you chaning the gearing? If it is sized right now if it was 'just' shirtof a link then you'll have an inch extra to play with......can you answer those, you have the bike and have a better chance of doing it than me!
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.

    This ^

Assuming your chain is already correctly sized, it will be fine.

    They're very good too.
