Tubeless Conversion

Been thinking about converting my rear wheel on the Marin to tubeless, it's a Nukeproof/Sun Ringle MTX 29 rim. Is there any reason I can't just use this tape with these valves?
I know I'll need some sealant as well.

They will work together, but you might be better off with a full-on rimstrip depending what tyres you use.0

Usually a 2.25 non tubeless folding Maxxis Crossmark and non tubeless folding 2.3 Continental Baron.
What difference would using a rim strip actually make?0 -
Better seal.0

You don't have tubeless ready tyres or rims, you need the full conversion kit.0

That looks quite expensive, think I'll just stick with my tubes for now.0

This is an ideal candidate for the bmx tube ghetto method.
You need: (1) bottle of sealant and (2) 2 x 20" bmx tubes
FWIW I have two sets of sun rims (one with non-tubeless folding continentals) running ghetto tubeless with no problems. I bought a big £20 sealant bottle and the tubes come from ebay at £2 - £3 each.0 -
Can that method be used again once the tyre has been removed? I would still be looking at changing tyres fairly regularly so that's a big no no if you can't.0
-
Depends how small you cut the bmx tube, leave it wide enough and its no problem to reuse.
Changing tyres with a tubeless can be a bit of a faff. If you do that a lot, I don't know I wouldn bother with it TBH.0 -
I know how much faff it is but it doesn't bother me. I would be doing it at home anyway so it's not as if I wouldn't have the time to do it.0

get the hope kit for £20, pretty much thwe same as the stans, just cheaper,
the ghetto works well for some and not for others, has been around for a long time now,
if your going to be changing tyres a lot then look into making your own sealant, - liquid latex, de-ionised water, drop of antifreeze, and you can use all manor of things to help it clogg holes, tumble dryer fluff, pet hair, Mica if you can get it, Xanthan gum (food thickener), if you mix the latex 2:1 witht he water, a tea spoon of the thickener, you can make 3l of soloution for under a tenner!Timmo.

The Hope kit is just yellow tape, two valves and a little bit of sealant isn't it? Apparently that won't work and if it did I could get a proper bottle of sealant, tape and valves for the same price as the Hope kit.0

(1) seriously? We make loads of that.
(2) where are you getting liquid latex from?0 -
I got the latex liquid from a local fibreglass place, model makers latex, £6.50 for a Litre, www.cfsnet.co.uk is the place I use, get my isopropyl from them too,
Apparently yes the tumble dryer fluff works well! Clogs up the holes etc. Very well, glitter was suggested but doesn't work, but a fair few use hair from animals or barbers! (Huge thread on mtbr.com forums about it!)Timmo.
