Hoefully buying a car at the weekend, and for piece of mind I just want to get a HPI check, mainly to check for any outstanding finance.

Anyone else bothered doing this? Ideally I will see the car first and then make a phone call, but most companies seem to be charging about £20+ !

Any recommended companies out there?

They can be useful for checking some history but don't rely on the mileage bit as that can be nonsense.

YES. Do it. I did it on car I nearly bought and it came back it had outstanding finance on it and wouldnt have been mine by law until finance was cleared. This was in a garage where they had on their website and literature that all their cars were hpi checked!
