Can anyone tell me if there is a proper word for the noise that a baby pigeon makes? Trying to formulate an email to the managing agent about a problem with pigeons roosting above our flat.

    Coo, that's a toughie.
Sometimes parts break. Sometimes you crash. Sometimes it’s your fault.

 Not sure that's quite right. I would describe that as the noise an adult pigeon makes, but a baby pigeon is more of a squeak.

Use the voice recorder on your phone to capture it then email that, as KB rightly says as an attachment named The_Noise_A_Baby_Pigeon_Makes.MP3. That would be nearly as easy as Googling it probably.

In the end I referred to it as 'the sound of baby pigeons', but appreciate your input guys

I know it's too late but in case it is still relevant...

Baby pigeons make sounds by snapping their beaks or hissing, they do not make any other sounds so if you have noisy pigeon neighbours it must be adults that are making the noise.

Can't believe the stuff that I post about! :D

"I can hear baby pigeons :?: ing so they must be roosting up there"

Does the hissing sound like a bit like a whistle because that's what can be heard sometimes?

If the pigeons are nesting 'up there', there could also be other nesting birds too like starlings, their young are able to vocalise like most baby birds (except pigeons) and are very noisy, they shriek and whistle. Starlings are also able to mimic sounds, we had one in our loft that made a sound like a chicken!

It might just be your accent, but I think Bradley Wiggins sounds a bit like baby pigeons.

The reason that you never see baby pigeons is that pigeons are, in fact, the larval form of a much larger creature. There is no such thing as a baby pigeon.

The adult form resembles an earwig, but has eleven pairs of legs and was the foundation of Col. Sander's fortune. It also shits coleslaw.

This is a thinly veiled euphemism for something unspeakable, isn't it?

Chances are that if you have to look up the proper word, if there is one, will the agent know what it means either?!

team47b, are you in any way involved in ornithology? You seem to be very clued up about birds.
