Hi,
I was trying to find similar topic but after some time I've spent here without answer...I decide to create new one, sorry if I double topics.

As we all know is getting colder and colder now and I realized that I don't have any good clothing gear for this period of the year + winter.

I've started looking for new clothes for colder days, because I've got winter tights from dhb and wear them with shorts [ and is ok during autumn and winter ] I need something for top, until now I wear
-1x or 2x normal fleece [winter ] + t shirt and karimor jacket . But I already know that is too much and it doesn't feel very comfortable when you ride .

So here is my question about new clothes, what I need for now when is 7-15*C outside and windy and what I should get later [ winter ] when temperature will drop close to 0*C?

I know that I need layers, and I have few ideas but still not sure what is the difference between then and which one I should get first.

If anyone can help , please :)
thanks

I wear an Endura Baa Baa merino wool base layer with a normal cycling t shirt on top and then a Gore Phantom II jacket. The jacket importantly stops the wind and so keeps me warm. If it gets very cold, I just add another layer between base layer and jacket.

  • Just put another thin layer on, I like Merino wool. Slightly more expensive, but well worth it.

BaaBaa, or similar merino, from about 15-degrees and down, with a light gilet as needed. From about 0 to -10ish a heavier weight windproof jacket with proper gloves, hat, buff, socks, etc.

It's all very, very individual though. I'm the only person I know who still wears shorts most of the (Swedish) winter, otherwise I sweat like a ... (which is really what you're trying to avoid).

ok, but does anyone had contact with dhb meriono base layer and windproof jacket? I've found endura ba baa for 32quid..so its not big difference in price dhb/endura ...which one is better then, for cold days ?
  • cold? what do you guys do - walk with your bikes?

After 10 mins you'll be warm enough :). I go with cheapo base layers from decathlon and a waterproof if it's raining. Sealskin waterproof socks are good though and decent gloves. Extremities tend to feel the cold on a bitter day.
