I bought an entry level Carrera Kraken (2010)
Althought its had its problems, this has been a reasonable purchase to get 'hooked' on MTB.
The Truative Powerspine Bottom Bracket is now showing signs of 'play'.
[not too suprising after 2yrs carring my >14 st around the Yorkshire Moors]
CAN ANYONE SUGGEST AN UPGRADE FOR THIS PART?
(ideally would like to keep the cranks and chainset as these appear fine...)

Regards

    another powerspline BB then.

Or a shimano HT crankset and External bearings which will need the BB shell faced and may not last as long.

^^^^ As de main man says.....
Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.
  • If a couple of years out of a bottom braket is all you would expect from approx 2k offroad riding
then I'll swap like-for-like, just thought I'd get longer.....

    Thanks for the reply

A couple of years is meaningless, I ride with a chap who goes through a BB every 3-4 months, but then he averages 1000miles a month..... also the type and amount of gloop you get round your BB and how you wash it off all affect the life.
