New X7 trigger shifter to the rear mech is very stiff and takes some effort to downshift i.e small to large whilst pedaling.
The trigger action is very heavy to operate, anyone experienced similar issues with SRAM trigger shifters?
Any tips to help and rectify this problem?
Upshifting is fine a very light action i'd expect to get.
Cable tension seems OK.

Cheers

Can sometimes be the bolt that goes through the shift lever, had this on a Rocket and fixed it by loosening and retightening.

  • I'll try that tonite did think it might be that but thought it would effect both down & up shifting

Not on mine for some reason, don't do more than very slightly loosen it, you need to apply some slight sideload to do it back up....

Check to see if the cable is seated correctly in the shifter... mine (x5) jammed as the cable had got tangled inside, though I had the luxury of getting the LBS to sort it FOC, they stated they had to fit a new inner due to the mangling. Note they advised if forced they have been known to trash the innards of the (sram) shifters so I wouldnt force the shift .

I guess a look inside is called for

Mine did this days before it died. Not even the LBS could fix them so they gave me new shifters under warranty.
