I am confused. My fork vibrates.I think its coming from the headset. I havent got any tools to take the fork out and look at the headset. DO you know why this could occur?
The fork doesn't move at all. Its only vibrates going over a bump on the road.

The wheels are find. The fork is not damaged. Do you know why this could be?

Thanks Jason

Not joking - could it be your watch, cables rattling, bottle cages, computer, lose cable tie

If there is no movement, it would be surprising if it was your forks. What if you give the whole front end rattle?

Firstly, check front wheel QR is tight. Waggle wheel side-to-side to check for front wheel bearing movement too - if you can feel/see movement then bearings need adjustment / servicing. As for headsets, check Park Tool website to determine what type you have and therefore next steps.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

Deleting this comment as I thought you had a noise, not a vibration.
  • Well I just rode it this morning and its the headset I think. Nothing else is rattling. Very annoying! I was thinking of just buying a new headset and replace it myself. How does that sound. I have take the headset out before ages ago quite simple stuff!

The rattle sound is only when I go over bumps, nothing else rattles. When I shake the bike nothing rattles only when i go over a bump.

Now I'm confused. Is it a vibration that you can feel, as you suggested in your first post, or just a rattling sound?

I've had an annoying rattle recently, which I was convinced was coming from the front area, but when I checked over the bike found the rear mudguard bracket has sheared off :!:
  • Its vibration and a rattling sound, there is nothing else on the bike which can rattle. no lights, nothing.
