Parker International. I can see why they're international - they must have a fleet of corporate Lear Jets at those prices.

Was looking at the kit on the Assos stand at the Cycle Show on saturday. I'm sure it's well thought out and splendidly functional, but the prices
  • Assos is great kit if you have the money.

If you don't, buy something else.

It's not rocket science, is it?

I've gone Assos mad since coming to CH, but then more or less everyone here wears Assos.

    S7 Uno jersey
    Intermediate Evo long sleeve Jersey
    Summer interactive baselayer
    early winter interactive base layer
    Uno S5 shorts
    TK.607 3/4 shorts
    Winter S5 LL tights
    Airjack 851 jacket
    arm and leg warmers.

It's all very good kit, I think my favourite is the Intermediate Evo jersey and TK.607 3/4 shorts. Fantastic cool weather gear. As long as you look after the stuff it lasts too. the Uno S5 shorts have been worn regularly now for 2 summers and they are as good as new. should get a few more seasons out of them.

It's way over priced and having owned a airblock jacket many years ago (was a present bought for me) it was not good/warm enough for a scottish winter. Ended up buying a altura night vision jacket to wear over the top to keep me warm.

I thought the same as you OP, however, after getting some ASSOS gear at 80% reduction - I discovered that it is great kit. You can still get their previous line stuff at very decent discounts.

In Switzerland it doesn't seem so outrageously priced, but then maybe I am becoming used to the Swiss cost of living.

Altura stuff is OK, I use it for commuting but it is not in the same league, and the zips always break!

Don't forget to factor in the crash repair/replacement scheme with Assos.

Agreed that the Airblock jacket doesn't cope that well with sub-zero stuff for me - that's when you don the Assos Fugujack which is indeed quite toasty even in temperatures well below zero!

I think that we're all agreed that Assos gear is pricey but equally it is quality stuff (not saying that this completely justifies the prices - can't bring myself to pay full price and bought my Airblock in sale with Mille bibshorts for £170 & got the almost new Fugujack and Assos biblongs thrown in on a bike deal for an extra £160)
  • Some stuff is great, like the 851 jacket and the bibshorts, other stuff is really not worth bothering... I bought a spring/autumn jacket for my fiancee at great cost (intermediate EVO?), but there is very little to it... mediocre zip, not very warm, fits better than other products, but it also costs twice as much...

In fairness, staying on ludicrously priced kit, I prefer Rapha gear

Most of my kit is Assos, it's great for all seasons. For me it's effective and worth the money, as I've stated many times. You do get what you pay for.

Quality of other brands have varied imo, but for me it's Assos.
  • I can afford the extravagence of only one Assos product: F1 Mille Bibshorts, and I'm so pleased I went for it, after much dithering. Superb design, quality and comfort for even all-day rides. The fabric and construction look like they will last for years. Expensive, yes (£145 I recall) but as with all things in life, you get what you pay for.

You could whinge about all truly premium quality/price products. They all fulfill a niche and good luck to those that can afford to buy them. For me generally, I can't afford them so I don't buy them, but nor do I complain about their prices.

The Intermediate Evo is not a jacket, it's a summer weight jersey with long sleeves and airblock front.

    Hence "Intermediate"

I find mine to be the most versatile bit of kit I own and consequently the one I wear the most.

that's right - the Intermediate Evo is indeed a jersey, and the Element One a jacket.

I didn't know they had one and I've got a few bits of Assos kit , mostly shorts which I find to be great
and well worth the cost , not so sure about jackets and jerseys

Yes, if you damage Assos gear in a crash, you can send it off to Switzerland and they will repair for free or if it is beyond repair, offer a replacement at a very low cost.
