I currently running 2 Cree Q5 lights ebay says 400lumens each, I am using cheap rechargeable aaa batteries to run them, I have not used them at night yet but they seem good at dusk, I am considering a Diablo Exposure 1100 lumen light and getting a Lezyne mini Drive Light for my helmet, I commute 26miles round trip and I will be doing it for as many years as I can, should I just invest in the two lights or stick with the cheap ebay lights I have now?

They are simply not worth it. I'd stick with what you have, or if you need more light, upgrade the torches to ones with XML emitters and 18650 cells. 800-1000 lumen lightweight torches can be had for for about £10.
The Diablo uses old tech LEDs, and for the money is an absolute joke. SO much better can be had for so much cheaper.0 -
I think I will do that, cheers0

Agreed. XML T6 or SSC P7s LEDs are the way to go.Scott Sportster P45 2008 | Cannondale CAAD8 Tiagra 20120

has anyone had experience with this type of light?

I know a few who have them - compared to the torches and all in one units, you get a battery pack for longer runtime (per output), but they do weigh more. Actual output is around 1400 lumens, but gives quite a wide flood but still with a sharp centre spot.
For a UK seller is a good price. Just the middle unit can be had though (900 lumens):

Be good combined with a torch for flexibility.0 -
im not bothered about weight in the winter o b honest rather been seen, how do u know they only give 1400 lumens?0

I specialise in lights ;-). The XML emitter can only output 1000 lumens in optimal conditions at the currents seen here (Cree datasheet). Given losses through the reflector/lensing/drivers, most XML units output 8-900. Same goes for the XPE, these are 350 max units, typically 250 here, so looking at a total of around 1300-1400.
All manufacturers of lights (not LEDs) overstate capability.0
