I have just bought another Magicshine MJ818 for about £36 inc P+P from Deal Extreme:

    http://dx.com/p/magicshine-mj-818-ha-ii ... uded-42077

They have a 3W central LED plus a ring of bright LEDs that do also give quite a wide angle of additional visibility. They are phenomenally bright, even compared to a Dinotte, so bright in fact they are not suitable for group riding IMO (a fellow rider described mine as the Eye of Sauron). I use mine on steady mode in traffic or as a fog light. Here it is in action:

My first one died due to water getting in but I did have it mounted upside down at the time, with the cable entry at the top. I will take the new one's rear mounting bracket off at the back and seal with RTV there and round the cable entry, which ought to do the trick. Mounting them directly on a seat post or seat stay is ineffective due to the angle, I have mine attached to the back of my rack using a short length of plastic drain pipe in the horizontal plane to wrap the o-ring round so that I can get a good angle. You could zip-tie something similar to seat post or seat stay.

If you cannot wait the 2-3 weeks for one to come from DX you can pay more (£45) to get it from the UK: http://www.magicshineuk.co.uk/products/ ... MJ-818RLGT

The DX versions charger does not have a UK plug but it has a mains cable which makes it very easy to swap to a UK plug. The new one also came with Magicshine's improved battery pack fully enclosed in rubber.
