Hi
Am looking for some advice on kids road bikes.
My 8yr old is interested in taking up road cycling so was wondering what people would recommend? I think a 24"/650 wheel size is a bit on the large size for him yet, so what have other folks used as a kick off?
Tks for any advice....

+1 to Islabikes.
However, there are other options should your budget not stretch quite as far.

Size really depends on height of course, but a 24" should be right for an average 8 year old.
A alternate to the Islabike is the Moda Minor 24" wheel version. Unfortunately these have shot up in price for the 2012 model. If you can find one for reasonable money they are excellent. Almost identical weight to an Isla Luath 24 (I know because I've got one of each!) and an adult road bike shrunk down.
Realistically you need to be spending £300+ for something decent. Anything below that will be heavy and not great for on the road. You should be looking for an aluminium frame and fork and spec aimed at young riders.Blogging about junior road bikes http://junior-road-bikes.tumblr.com0
