I've just bought a Lapierre zesty 314 2010 off the forum. Apparently it comes with only the original headset cups, what would i need to fit my 1 1/8 steerer?

I assume you still have the old headset? Bang the cups out and use what you had.

Yeah get a new headset probably... easiest to do that. What you probably need is a headset of type SHIS:ZS44/28.6|ZS44/30 (1-1/8" Zero Stack ZS Standard)

Personally I would recommend a Cane Creek 40.

+ 1 Find out what the current headset is. You maybe able to fix it using a different crown race. Which is a lot cheaper and easier than a new headset.

Race... And Bearings, bottom seal, top seal & wedge....

Easier to get a new headset for sure.

Sorry just read the thread again. Yep easier and prob cheaper to just get a whole new headset rather than rescue the cups he has.

Also check the with your LBS how much fitting is if you buy the headset from them. In my LBS they will fit the headset for free if you buy it from them. Negates trying to buy it of the web to get it cheaper.

Will my headset from a carbon 456 fit?

Depends what headset is fitted in the 456?

Have a read on park tools website about the headset standards.

Dont think so. C456 have a 49 bottom and 44 top. So you'd need at least the bottom (top should be fine though).
