Bourg d'Oisans in June?
Options seem to be:
* Fly + rent bike box + pay for transfer
* Mess about with trains
* Drive (maybe sharing with others from the club)
* Figure out a way to fix panniers to a carbon frame and ride the whole way
Also there are some slight issues around losing weight and getting fit.
I know some forumites are Marmotters so may have experience in this area.

Ride; you know you want to; 7 days from the ferry, 80 miles a day AND you'll be fit and tanned
when you get there

I've done it by train a couple of times. A fast smooth ride down and you can relax and enjoy a glass of wine as you go
Isn't really that much hassle - the only real irritant is getting from gare du nord to gare de lyon (and whatever bits you'd have to do on the tube)0 -

found any good accom yet? seems there are plenty of chalets at good prices that time of year.0 -
I've (been) driven down a couple of times. Once with a stopover in Lyon, once not. The former was preferable
This year we flew to Lyon and rented a Europcar van from the airport and schlepped across to Bourg. Pretty easy and a much shorter transit time.0 -

The consensus in the group looks to be leaning towards driving.
Now I just need to lose 3 stone and train a lot.0 -

FWIW - depending how many of you there are and where you want to stay, I would advise booking early.
I've found it very difficult to get nice accom on the alpe itself when booking independently as the chalets and hotels that are open seem to be block booked by clubs / tour operators / etc0
