They are stupidly nice bikes, I just believe intense of all companies dodn't put ISCG tabs on it when they used a pressfit bb, completely puts it out the running for me, which is a crying shame as it looks bloody fantastic. Looking forward to the finished build!

ISCG tabs are not something I'm that fussed about I've never used a guard or chain device for any of the xc/ am bikes and only have one on the DH bike as its built in to the frame.
I used /tried out the Shadow rear mech on a Pivot 5.7 and think they are brill so should do the job well on this.

I agree though it does seem a strange thing to miss out esp for those who want them

I know what you mean, seems very odd that given their DH background, they don't them on, especially as the tracer has them. If you don't use a guide then its not an issue, I love my LG1+ as it holds the chain perfectly and has the taco guard for any rocks/logs, and it has had a few hits I'm sure would have resulted in alot of damage to chainring/chain had I not had it. Still it looks fantastic and I'd struggle to recommend anything else over it, I'm a big fan of the VPP system and similar setups, I've always found they ride really well!

    Also its a carbine ;)

Btw do you have a full spec list of whats going on this? And did you weigh the frame?
  • Looking good. Thought you were putting carbon wheels on there though?

Well did chase up a set but then found out that they weren't the axle config I was after- There is still time!!

These wheels are a bit of a stop gap and I got them cheap from a friend

the back is 142 x12 so the original Easton carbons I was chasing weren't this width.

lawman weighing bikes is just wrong if it feels right when i'm finished that will be fine :D

  • I honestly can't recommend my superstar build highly enough. 1,600g, super-strong (strong enough to withstand inners when you were trying to kill yourself, and the peaks when you killed those DT wheels) come in a range of colours, have a pretty much instant pickup, and cost under £400.

And if you want mega bling, have some tune hubs, cx-rays and arch ex's, should be well under 1500g and strong as fook! Weight is always important, hell I nearly sent my new tyres back because they were 80g heavier than claimed!!!

Definitely a reverb for me, much prefer the remote lever of the reverb and the reliability of the hydraulic system, mine has been faultless, and whilst I'm not normally impressed with rockshox stuff, its my go-to dropper post atm, as all of the others seem to have flaws in either design, action, ergonomics or reliability.

  • Looks good. Reverb would keep in with the all-black look, but other than that, and despite what some people may tell you, they're all much of a muchness. Looks to me like the main advantage of that KS one over the RS one is that you don't need to put up with the retarded design that means when the seat is dropped you've got a loop of cable hanging about.
HOWEVER, does the Carbine not come with internal routing for dropper posts? so you could buy the "stealth" version?

  • Looking good mate.

Can't believe you went and bought a set of forks just to use until your "proper ones" turn up lol. You're a madman.

You'll have to come over again for a couple of days soon to test it out and so I can get a proper look. Also so I can leave you in a ditch with your head on backwards and steal your bike.

It's not as it seems with the forks as i got them from my super friendly bike shop for such a price that I'll easily make my money or more back when I come to change them.

Pictures coming up later of an outing in the Peaks - I'm off for "The Up and Down" ride on the side of Win hill so 3 major descents the easiest is the Beast :D:D:D

The 34's look really good, will interesting to see what you think of them. Some 34's or new wheels will be my next major purchase

The 34's look and feel pretty damm good tbh I can't fault them they even look substantial so confidence inspiring. I've had a chance to ride on all sorts of terrain now and the bike just flies. It is so light that it peddles like my carbon trek XC bike but takes all the whalloping that the S Works could handle.

I changed the front rotor to a 180 from the original 160 as the few times I used the front brake the 160 wasn't quite up to the task. 180 much better.

Got to shorten the brake hose F & R at some point but it can wait till I have some time.

    All in all GREAT

funny enough I've not managed to bend this pair of DT Swiss cheese wheels so may keep them for a while ( Saves up for carbon)

As soon as I can weather and rotation allows.

After trying to keep up with you - both uphill & downhill - last Tuesday evening, it goes good too!!

Got to say that, even with my limited experience of a quick spin up the road before the ride, it's the fastest accelerating bike I've ever sat on!!

You missed a cracker of a ride yesterday, clicky, I think it might've changed your opinion of Hayfield!!
