London 2 Paris - which bike? (beginner)

Im getting back on the saddle after 10yrs & want to train with the London 2 Paris in May 2013 as my 1st goal!
Im prepared to spend £600-1000 & want a decent bike that will keep me motivated & keen to ride.
Through Halfords i had my heart settled on a Broadman COMP for £800 or CARRERA VIRAGO for £999 but after reading the forums ive now opened my eyes wider & now quite like the PLANET-X PRO CARBON RIVAL for £999......
Am i looking at the right bikes?? any advise would be great for a beginner!!!
