Hello.. since passing my driving test 10yrs ago ive hardly been on a bike. (Only MTB experience). But my brother has just completed London-Brighton & has persuaded me to get back on a bike & train with the Londoon-Paris in May 2013 as our 1st goal.
My question is what bike should i go for considering what i plan to use it for..?
I don't want a cheap basic spec bike cos i want something thats gonna keep me motivated & enthusiastic to ride. Im thinking around the £600-£1000 price range which i might be able to afford within the month.
My brother has a Broadman ROAD for £600 & also through Halfords i did have my heart set on a Broadman ROAD TEAM for £900 or the Carrera Virago(carbon) for £999... but after looking at these forums im now swaying towards a Planet-X PRO CARBON RIVAL for £999.
Am i in the right ball park for what i plan to do & with the lack of experience behind me. Im quite fit & plan only a few training runs about twice a week of various distances. (Also would a road CX bike by useful?)
Any advise would be great!!!

Having completed L2P back in 2011 I would recommend getting something as comfortable as possible as you will be spending hours in the saddle. I had a Trek 1.2 and this was ok but there are a lot of other bikes out there which will be even more suitable. You want to look for something like a Cannondale Synapse0
