What do you pack in the way of first aid kit when you're out for a ride? Had a mini kit in a rucksack pocket for the last ten years, its got a safety pin and 2 small plasters in it, not much use for a usual biking accident involving removal of half a leg of skin by asphalt. Is there much point in carrying one? I don't want to start burdoning my road bike with a big saddle bag.

Not really worth it I think. Decades of cycling and the only major injury I've seen was a broken collarbone.
    Ambulance sorted that out.

You could take a rolled up bandage if you wanted to but it depends how big your pockets or bag is.
And wrap it well or it'll be soggy or dirty when you need it !

Tegaderm is a must for road rash, miles better than plasters or normal dressings. I would carry it with some antiseptic swabs if I was doing a lot of riding in remote areas.

I am a nurse so always carry a 1st aid kit. I agree that a Tegaderm type dressing is well worth carrying for when you have removed half the skin off your knee or similar. I always carry a crepe bandage, Triangular bandage, safety pins, tape, assorted plasters and paracetamol and Piriton tabs, and anti septic wipes (and my salbutamol inhaler for personal use)

And a couple of pairs of surgical gloves - that double up for mechanical emergencies too

I have used bits of my kit on a number of occasions - wouldn't be without it.
