The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns
momentarily from the herd and thinks for himself.
  • Doesn't look like many took part in the Pro ride. I enjoyed it but found that I did the majority of the ride on my own. Looking at the times some managed to get round in 4 hours 5? Was relatively flat but still some going that. I came in just over 6 hours which for my first 100 miler and being on my own for 95% of the ride I'm fairly happy with.

P*ss poor turnout if im honest, you could go for an hour at a time and not see anyone!!

I think there was about 250ish who took part in the Pro ride, which was quite disapointing considering all the hype of the Olympics and Tour de France/Britian.

I think there could of been a caution signs on the steep decent after Chipping Camden, the country road wasnt the best condition and with blind bends your asking for trouble..

Yep, nearly got wiped out by a 4x4 coming the other way on the descent. Was only single track so wasn't the safest.

Looking at the finishing times it looks like there was only 72 on the Pro Ride which is really poor.
  • One reason for the poor turnout might have been the BHF ride taking place on the same day in the same area and perhaps some people may have chosen the Tour Ride the previous week up the road in Stoke.

I rode out with the first group at 8am which was about 30 strong and when the split came we went down to 4! Eventually I was down to just me and I only met with two other riders after 50 miles. I then had a pot hole puncture on the descent of Camden Lane which was a very nasty experience. I was surprised by how few riders went by me, although everyone checked i was ok :)

That descent was very nasty, I realise we all have to ride with care and attention but a verbal warning at the start of the ride would have been useful.

There was a Keystone Cops moment when the Motorcycle rider directed us all down a dead end to the first Feed Station that wasn't open and nobody needed. We then all headed back up only to see more riders doing the same, it was funny but showed perhaps a lack of experience in the organisation.

My only real gripe is the lack of immediate timings, other events I have taken part in (Wiggle) deliver the time to you as soon as you finish, rather than having to wait for the web page, at £30 a go we should be getting timings straight away.
  • Was exactly the same situation with the 1st feed stop in Stoke. Completely unnecessary after 15 miles and the fact it was down in Bubbenhall made it even worse. They should of held off for another 15 or so miles.

Being local, I should've just done my route down to Edge Hill, rather then plodding around that course on my own for 100 mile. Wasn't much of an 'experience' to be honest.

The fact you had to pay a fiver for parking on top of the £35 entry was a p*ss-take as well.

Fortunately I had friends in Coleshill so I could park up there, i live on the north side of cov so it was a chance to go south for a change. I would say they have a bit of a way to go to match up to the standard set by Kilo to Go who do the Wiggle Sportives.
