Fizik seatpost clamp question

I have just bought a Fizik Cyrano seatpost and find that to position the saddle in the correct place the lower plate of the clamp is right at the back of the saddle rail. The lower plate is much longer than the upper plate so I'm wondering if this is an issue? On my carbon railed Romin the lower plate extends well beyond the roughened area with the measurements printed on it. I have quite long thighs so I'm surprised that this is happening.
