I know, I know... its my fault for buying cheap but my sports direct bib shorts (quite comfortable actually!) have turned my white saddle a bit blue.

Anyone know how I can get the blue out of the saddle? I've tried LOC solution (a strong cleaner from the mother-in-law) and general soap and water kind of stuff but no luck...

...any tips? :D

Try baby wipes - the ones with alcohol? They seem to clear just about anything off anything!

Bleach? Saddle may need soaking in a dilute solution for say an hour or two. SWMBO uses bleach to get dye stains out of fabrics - worth a try?

I did the same thing last year. I bought a gleaming new bike and then some cheap Karrimor shorts from Sports Direct. The first use turned the saddle blue and I found nothing to shift it. I tried Fairy, Cif, Ariel, the lot. I then reasoned that as sweat had acted as the solvent to leach the dye, it would also remove it if I kept riding. The Karrimor shorts went in the bin but the blue saddle remains. :(
  • one of the reasons I always make sure I put things through a wash before wearing! Get any dye out that still needs to be removed.

Glad to know it's not just me. Le sigh.
At least I'm sat on it most of the time the bike is in public so no-one else will know..
  • I'd assume that most coloured bibshorts would do that. New jeans can dye sofas. Some cycling garments carry recommendations on them to wash before first use; this is another good reason for that. Certainly nothing to abandon bibshorts over. I wouldn't have bought a white saddle, myself; it's bound to get discoloured.

My cheap Ebay skinsuit has done the same with my TT saddle so you are not alone. Luckily I need to get a new saddle for next season and a better suit will be coming with it as well!
  • try white wine vinegar or wd40 but then you need to get the wd40 off afterwards

I have just washed my new bib before I wear it, thanks for another useful thread, I completely forgot about the colour running onto my white saddle too.

    cheers guys.

Try using a toothpaste with bicarbonate of soda in it, that may work.
