700x28c Tyre for Turbo Trainer

I plan on using my hybrid on a turbo trainer over the winter but don't want to un-duly wear the Gatorskins that are on it as they are relatively new. I've been looking at turbo trainer specific tyres, but they all seem to be 700x23c, but my hybrid runs 700x28c - albeit with road style tread.
I was therefore wondering if my hybrid (a Boardman Performance Hybrid Comp) is likely to work fine with 700x23c tyres - they are Axel DP17 rims if I remember correctly. I'd only be using the narrower tyres on the trainer though and would be sticking to the 700x28c for road use.

On the AlexRims website it states that they have a 17mm diameter from bead-to-bead and 24mm full cross-section width.

There's no reason not to use the 700x23 turbo tyres.
On a trainer things like cornering and pothole protection don't apply. You can't ride specialised turbo tyres on the road as they have poor grip, so if you don't have a spare rear wheel you'll be changing tyre regularly unless you give up the road for the winter.0
