Recommend MTB Road Tyres

Can anyone suggest some decent road tyres to help in commuting to work on my Kona Cindercone?
I will be buying a road bike as a long term solution but using my bike to commute and want more efficiency in the shorter term.
I have looked at:
Maxxis Detonator Wire Tyre>> http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=12607
Continental Travel Contact City MTB Tyre >> http://www.wiggle.co.uk/continental-tra ... -mtb-tyre/
or possibly some of the urban options
Maxxis DTH Folding Tyre >> http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=78368
Michelin Country Rock Tyre>> http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... delID=8547
Any advice would be welcome.

tread is not needed on the road. if anything tread reduces grip."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I use Conti Sports Contacts - full slick, roll well on tarmac and have added puncture protection.2007 Felt Q720 (the ratbike)
2012 Cube Ltd SL (the hardtail XC 26er)
2014 Lapierre Zesty TR 329 (the full-sus 29er)0 -
never had an issue even in winter on the pub run in Sweden on the fixed on the Snow and Ice.
again tread is not needed on the road.
road tyres dont have tread."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

another vote for the Kojaks from me. I really got on with the set I have. Loved the extra grip slick tyres offer when used on the road as well as the reduced rolling resistance. I also have had no problems using them in the wet.0 -
How wide?
I run 26x1.5's was on WTB Slickasaurus on my commuter, only one puncture in 2,500miles (bought used) just swapped the worn out rear for a Panaracer Ribmo which has impressed so far...pricey though.
Budget option which my Student daughter uses are Schwalbe City Jets which can be had in upto 1.95", only reason for tread is to know when it's nearly worn out!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
