Unless you are into lone solo breaks then I'd say go shallow rims and use Conti Sprinters

You have to work on your sprint, as most races finish in a sprint... Wheels don't help in a sprint... You need to work on your anaerobic effort, push the boundaries and do some gym work to beef up your quads. A good set of wheels and tyres might help you save that little bit of energy for the sprint, but ultimately if you can't sprint you will not progress.
100 per cent tubolars if it is for racing only. A good winter preparation will give you an edge, far more than any wheel can do

  • I don't race. But I recently puchased some full carbon wheels (clinchers) and it transformed the performance of my bike.

Must say the best or most productive upgrade is by developing the "engine" i.e. YOURSELF.

  • I'm not starting traning just yet after a hard year racing MTB and 2 24hr solo in the legs and have some spear cash after selling some off my old MTB kit so would like some wheels are something that will make my bike better

The wheels won't help you win races. The most important part of the bike at 3/4 is the engine.

    Anyway, clinchers all the way.
