i recently noticed that my back wheel was buckled so i took it to LBS and they said the spokes were loose they went to tighten them and one snapped they said it would be difficult to et a spoke so i opted for a new mavic. i have been given the wheel back. but what should i do with it. one spoke is missing as it snapped when under tension the wheel can not be put true and is about 3 cm off. what should i do with i now??
i am thinking about removing the spokes and nipples and either selling the rim and hub or getting it rebuilt but does anyone know how much this will cost??
any ideas would help

That's a bit like asking how long is a bit of string ...
Up here in NW England I have just paid £80 (including stainless DB spokes) for a set of wheels so that would suggest that £40 per wheel would not be far off the mark ....
Still a bit puzzled why the LBS did not sort your buckled wheel out for you or are they suggesting that the rim is damaged beyond safe use - if they build wheels I would expect them to have various lengths and flavours of spokes in stock?

Depends on the model... which wheel are we talking about? If it's a bottom of the range one, it's not worth bothering, but if the hub is decent then it might be worth it... price wise, if possible to rebuild, 50-60 poundsleft the forum March 20230 -
i have all ready replaced the wheel with a mavic.
i now have a broken wheel and it is an are wheel worth about £3000 -
