8 speed cassette replacement help

Hi. I am currently doing a refurb on my urban MTB and having already done the BB I now need to do the rear cassette and chain as they are completely worn out. Currently fitted is a Shimano CSHG30-8I (11-32) with the IG chain. I've been looking at all sorts of sources of information on what I can fit as a replacement. I read somewhere that I can simply fit a Shimano CSHG41 8 speed with a HG chain. Is this correct? The rear derailleur (Shimano Alivio) is still in good order and the front chainset is all ok (was running a Shimano IG chain). Don't want to spend an absolute fortune on what is essentially a workhorse for getting to work in the better(ahem!) summer months but nevertheless want good quality components. Any pointers in the right direction would be good.

Any 8 speed shimano cassette, 11-32 (or 11-30, or 11-28) will fit fine and work fine. With any 8 speed chain.

Check the chainrings for wear too though.0 -
Thanks for the quick reply. Just needed confirmation. Did a full strip down and clean of the chain rings when I did the BB and they appear to have survived fairly well. Nevertheless may do them too so that everything is smooth.
Thanks again
