Can anyone tell me if this 2013 model is any different from the 2012 one? Also is this much better than Izoard XP?

  • I believe the only changes for 2013 are frame colours according to my LBS
  • My LBS trying to push me towards getting a Scott CR1 Pro, saying Italian bikes are overpriced. The GT just looks the business to me though! Anyone own one?

Your LBS told you that because they want you to buy a Scott CR1 Pro.
  • To be fair the CR1 has full Ultrgra so it's not like its a poor bike just doesn't look as good. Was wanting to know how good the GT is to own like

this is my 2012 gt , this is now my winter bike but i did a few sportives on it this year before i got my BH.

pros : lovely ride ,smooth as silk but aggressive position so you can still get your head down and cane it , best trait is the descending it is very stable.

cons : mostly that the cables rattle in the frame when at low tension and the rear brake is very hard to set up as you need to run a very short piece

i would recommend though as it is a great distance bike and looks superb.

  • thanks mate . no its campy record throughout apart form the chainset i now have shimano 105 and mavic elite rims on it its not used as yet with that groupset as it came off a new bike . was thinking of selling as its abit too good for a winter bike. used my focus cyclocross bike last winter and that was fine.

  • no mate bought it all new i change my bikes every 8 months or so . i never seem to get exactly what i want so tend to change my bikes alot however i have a BH RC1 at the moment and love it . it was beating me up over rough surfaces at first but i got a easton ec90 stem and bars which has solved that issue and now i love it .BH are great bikes not to be overlooked the only problem is getting one in the u.k . seriously i would buy one over any other bike i have had and they are very light my bike with new wheelset weighs in at 6.1 kg with pedals. i would love to put campy eps on it but cannot see myself spend 3k on a groupset .

  • I have the 2012 GT with Athena. It's the best bike I've owned, and the first time I haven't started coveting other bikes with a year.

As said above, it's incredibly smooth with great handling. Position is fairly aggressive (compared to the Madone I had last) yet is strangely very comfortable for long rides.

The detailing is lovely - everytime I clean it I spot something new.

I got lucky with this bike as I bought it without a test ride, but it's perfect for me :)
  • How does it compare to the madone? Just seen a 5.2 Leopard at £2300 with Ultegra which looks canny?

  • I have both the XP and a GT built to my specs. The XP is a great bike, but is let down IMO by the wheels, which I upgraded.
The GT was built to my specs, with Ultegra and Fulcrum Racing 1 Custom Wheelsets which makes it an awesome bike.
    Great reviews.
Wilier geometry suits me and the type of riding I do. Wilier is very popular in the club I ride with, but there again a friend swears by Giant, everyone has different opinions, so go by what you like. Ask for a test ride before you buy.
