ruddy gashed my tyre grrrr

out on my ride today aiming for a nice 30 miles and suddenly heard a funny noise...yes my rear wheel was losing air! upon inspection i had a bit of a gash.although i had a tube etc with me i phoned home to be picked up...getting dark and impending downpour. so a bit of sorting to do tomorrow to get back out. i am wondering actually, i am going to put the tyre off my stock wheel from my bike to replace this one, is it a problem at all having different front/real tyres/tubes?

    You can mix/match tyres with no problem. Just keep in mind that if they're not of similar quality then you should be more careful in inclement weather, fast descents, and crap roads.

    thats a good point, i will get her back on the road first and consider my next move. i did wonder wether should get some tough tyres for the winter months.
