I've recently got myself a Kona Hoss 07, just getting out and about at the moment and enjoying it!
The rear brake didn't work when I got it and when I replace it I may as well upgrade it to something better. What's out there? I'm skint at the moment but plan on doing things as and when I have the money...

I've no idea how much they cost, what's a rough price for them to start at? Would I keep the standard wheels and disks?0

What size disc brake rotor is on there?0

I quickly took a tape measure to the disk and it's just over 6 inches..0

Probably 160mm but check.

As for price, CRC have Deore at about £50 an endI don't do smileys.

I'll check properly but I'd say 160mm sounds like what I've got on there. I guess the same size but a better quality part to replace my back one then? And then another matching one when I've got the money for the front...
Say I've got £80, what would my money get me?
EDIT - Is this what you were talking about?

Sure the rear brake doesn't just need some maintenance like new pads or filling with fluid? New brakes is an expensive way to fix a pad/fluid issue!
What brake is on there now? (will say on lever and/or calliper) Does the lever come back to the bars or does the lever feel right and you get no braking?Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
The bike shop said they were knackered, but me being a newbie I couldn't tell you myself. Think I might just buy deors? That's after I get the gears working properly first, they need adjusting, could I do this myself?0

Describe the problem you have (put a post in the workshop and tech forum), is the lever hitting the bars, are the pads worn out (look at them!) or are you squeezing the brakes and nothing happens? Compare to the front!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
