I watched it - some of it was interesting but the actual riding, whilst spectacular was so far removed from what I consider to be mountain biking I found it a bit samey after the first couple of sequences. There is only so much desert mountain riding you can watch without it all starting to blend together.
That said Kurt Sorge is a hugely stylish rider - in one sequence he rips into a kicker that sends him 80-90 feet or more in a huge whip - just amazing, lands it like it was nothing.
I watched it all, I enjoyed 80%, I give it 8 out of ten as it was free. 6-7 if I had paid for it.Closet jockey wheel pimp whore.0 -
yeah i know what you mean about it getting a bit samey as a visual, i thought the same!
I guess the thing to remember is the immensity and potential huge danger of what they are riding, its easy to overlook that while watching it....the skill and bravery of the stuff they were riding was immense...and to be the first people to ride alot of the places they rode makes it even more epic!
Total respect to them, amazing riding.
But yeah, it could have been better as a piece of film had the riding scenery been mixed up a bit!0 -

Sounds sick, and gnarr. I bet they were feeding off each other.0 -

But as they explained at the beginning of the film the type of terrain required for big mountain freeride is very specific. Alpine type terrain is too rocky and just wouldn't be ridable without a lot of building work. The whole point of big mountain freeride is to ride natural lines.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Watched it, same opinion as previous posts.
Personally I preferred From The Inside Out. More varied terrain and riding styles, less tourism footage.

Rockmonkey - as a DH sort of a rider did you enjoy it? I can see the skill involved and am impressed by what they ride and in many cases the obvious danger of what they are trying, not to mention the balls they have to keep trying big tricks that they have gone down hard on previously. I also enjoyed the tourism (if you can call it that) story telling sections, particularly the hike out from Kathmandu and other bits, jealous of the camping trip up the Fraser river. I just got a bit numb to the flying dirt, desert mountain lines - one big brown film that got a little dragging toward the end. There is a reason Green River features in bike films - its spectacular riding and scenery - but there is also a reason it features for 5 min sections!Cat With No Tail wrote:paul.skibum wrote:- in one sequence he rips into a kicker that sends him 80-90 feet or more in a huge whip - just amazing, lands it like it was nothing.
